Embracing the Joys of Movement: A Writing Challenge Journey

Chapter 1: The Writing Challenge Experience
This writing challenge is designed to enhance my skills as a lyricist, inspired by KJ Aartila and her connection to Pat Pattison's book "SONG-WRITING WITHOUT BOUNDARIES." After ordering this insightful book, I embarked on this journey.
Today marks Day 8, having commenced Day 7 with the prompt "Who." It's refreshing to introduce slight variations in our themes to stave off monotony. The emphasis here is on time constraints, encouraging the incorporation of sensory details—sight, sound, taste, touch, smell, body, and motion. Keep in mind that the timer may stop mid-sentence; complete your thoughts as best as possible! Here are today’s prompts:
Timed for 5 minutes: Cyclist
As children, my siblings and I were inseparable from our bikes, taking them everywhere—from parks to rivers, lakes, and stores. However, as I transitioned to motorcycling, the world of bicycles faded from my life. While I was never truly a cyclist, my brother and his wife recently embraced biking with motors to navigate the trails in Northern Minnesota. They enjoy it immensely, and I’ve considered joining them. Yet, my brother reminded me that pedaling is still a requirement, which made me reconsider.
I’ve never attended a cycling event, but I once overheard a discussion about the dynamics of cycling, where a lead cyclist rotates as they tire, akin to geese flying in formation. That concept intrigued me, but my knowledge of cycling remains limited. Cyclists often have an athletic physique, which I find impressive.
Timed for 10 minutes: Ballerina
My understanding of ballerinas is minimal, yet I know they are passionate about dancing, often enduring pain to pursue their art. I've heard that dedication to the craft is paramount, even when injured. The thought of enduring discomfort for the sake of performance is unfathomable to me. I have danced in the past but recognize my limitations. Perhaps with lessons, I could improve, but my interest isn't strong.
In my younger days, I admired the elegance of ballerinas, yet as I age, I find myself more clumsy—throw rugs are perilous for me! Imagining myself dancing now is almost laughable. Still, I have a deep appreciation for the grace and beauty of these dancers. Attending my granddaughter's dance recitals has been a joy; the little ones are simply adorable! Watching them attempt to follow along, some getting distracted, brings so much delight.
The older dancers are remarkable, leaving me in awe of their transformation from the tiny performers I once saw. I’ll continue to support my granddaughter’s journey in dance as long as she wishes to perform.
Timed for 90 seconds: Puppy
There’s nothing cuter than a puppy! They are full of love, cuddles, and charm. Unfortunately, I have an allergy that makes me feel unwell around them, which is heartbreaking. Now that I’m older, I long for the companionship of a puppy to snuggle with.
