# The Importance of the Transitional Phase in Transformations

Chapter 1: Understanding Transformations
Transformations can occur in various contexts, but the transitional phase—often overlooked—holds particular significance for me.
It’s widely accepted that definitions of success can differ from person to person, but one truth remains: everyone desires success. A vital lesson I’ve come to appreciate is that all worthwhile achievements require time, emphasizing the importance of progress in our lives.
While some areas of life clearly illustrate this progress, others may be less obvious. A prime example of this clarity can be found in personal fitness journeys. If you've been engaged with social media or even just watched television, you’ve likely encountered countless stories of individuals sharing their weight loss or fitness transformations.
These transformations are not only visible online but are also prevalent in advertisements around us. Witnessing such changes can be inspiring; however, we often overlook the crucial journey that lies between the initial state and the final outcome that we typically celebrate.
The fitness industry frequently employs the term ‘transformation,’ and it’s easy to assume that this discussion is solely focused on that realm. In reality, transformations manifest in multiple aspects of life. Transitioning from financial hardship to prosperity, moving from ignorance to expertise, or shifting from a directionless existence to one filled with purpose—all exemplify transformation.
The key takeaway, in my view, is the 'between'—the phase that connects the starting point and the destination. This interim period is essential. It is during this time that our actions and decisions significantly impact the eventual outcome. Each individual has a unique journey, and as such, the duration of this transitional phase varies from one person to another. For some, it may be brief, while for others, it may extend over a longer period.
Regardless, being intentional during this phase is critical. Eventually, we will transition from our 'between' to our envisioned outcomes, but the likelihood of that happening hinges on how we navigate this interim phase.
Interestingly, even though I may not yet be where I aspire to be, I firmly believe that our capacity to sustain our successes is rooted in the groundwork laid during our 'between'—the process. This is when we have the opportunity to learn, grow, prepare, invest, and cultivate ourselves, ensuring we are equipped to retain the achievements we attain in the future.
This isn’t to say that our growth should cease once we reach our goals; rather, continuous learning is essential for ongoing improvement. However, the lessons learned during the transitional phase provide a robust foundation for future growth.
So, I pose this question to you: How seriously are you approaching your 'between' moments? Thank you for taking the time to read this!
