Chapter 1 Understanding Time as an Asset

Throughout my career, I've held various positions that paid between $7.25 and $15 per hour. While I cherish the experiences gained during those times, I often felt unfulfilled, as I recognized that my time held greater worth than such low wages. How about you?

At the age of 14, I began teaching music lessons, earning a minimum of $40 per hour. Collaborating with my father for affluent clients brought in anywhere from $100 to $400 per hour, fundamentally altering my perspective on both money and time.

While jobs in retail and fast food offered consistent hours, I couldn't remain in those roles for long. The experiences provided short-term benefits, but ultimately, I realized that I couldn't settle for such low compensation for eight hours a day. Why accept $290 weekly (before taxes) at $7.25 per hour when there's potential to earn $16,000 weekly at $400 per hour? This stark contrast in figures truly compels a shift in mindset.

My retail and fast food experiences taught me one essential lesson: individuals tend to gravitate toward jobs that align with their true worth. I found it simple to leave those positions due to inadequate pay. However, many others remain stuck in similar roles for years without significant pay raises. While a steady paycheck can provide comfort, it can also become a trap.

True ambition is always accompanied by decisive action. Many of our aspirations are superficial; we desire outcomes but often lack the commitment to pursue them actively. What about your circumstances?

What is your current income? Are you satisfied with this rate, or would you rather earn more? Do you believe you're putting in more effort than your compensation reflects?

Time equates to money. The more you can earn in a shorter time frame, the less you need to work overall. Less work frees you up to explore, learn, grow, and invest in meaningful relationships and ventures.

We often act as though we have all the time in the world. This is a misconception. We are all operating on a finite timeline, and the end date remains unknown.

If you're content with your current earnings, that's fantastic. However, if you're not, it's worth considering how you might elevate your hourly rate. It's more achievable than you might think, particularly in today’s creator-driven market.
