Embracing Healing: A Journey Through Trauma Recovery

Written on

Chapter 1: The Call to Heal

In the flow of life, may you discover the unexpected, much like a river navigating its swift currents.

My journey has led me to explore new depths—streams of healing moments shared with family, friends, and all of you accompanying us on this voyage. While the future remains uncertain, we must embrace the present. Trust me, seeking to control the future can complicate our lives, but the goodness in our hearts shines through. Regardless of your beliefs, this space is inclusive for everyone.

I’m Michelle, and today I want to share my experience of liberation from anger, impatience, and even envy. True treasure lies not in the external world but within ourselves. Those of us who have tread this path before understand the untouched riches that await discovery inside us.

As I navigate the healing process from unprocessed trauma throughout my life—especially as I embrace my fifties—I find solace in knowing that I can rest peacefully without crying myself to sleep over past pains that have lingered into adulthood.

However, I refuse to be bogged down by these memories. Instead, I choose to let them fuel my exploration of the intertwined realms of the physical and spiritual. Our spirits, minds, and bodies are inseparable, and healing begins with the belief that recovery is achievable.

Do you believe in the possibility of healing?

I am living proof of it! As an engaged member of both local and global communities, I cherish my role in my family. With my grandmother's birthday approaching, I’ll be prioritizing quality time with loved ones.

HOW TO HEAL

If you find yourself struggling, remember that you are not alone. We accompany you on this healing journey—a labyrinth filled with emotions from past traumas, whether physical, emotional, or spiritual. Each instance of abuse can wound our spirits, but remember that healing is possible with faith and perseverance.

Take a moment to envision your healing journey as a labyrinth, defined as:

  • A complex maze full of intricate pathways and dead ends.
  • A garden maze formed by paths separated by tall hedges.
A serene labyrinth symbolizing the journey of healing.

Consider all you've experienced; only you and the divine can truly understand your pain. Take time to converse with yourself, for you are the most significant person in your life.

Your loved ones may share in your experiences, but their understanding will always be limited unless they have walked a similar path. Life is intricate, and our traumas weave a complex web of emotions that shape our expressions and desires for healing.

When the opportunity arises to perform a kind act, seize it! You’ll find immense blessings in small deeds, as I have learned in this challenging yet illuminating world.

The paths of our feelings guide us, even when we may not recognize it. In tough moments, how do you feel? Do you uplift yourself immediately, or do you dwell in negativity? This is an essential aspect of shadow work—acknowledging that life isn’t always perfect.

We often fall into the trap of self-criticism. I once did, but through music and my connections around the world, I have found healing. Cherish those supportive relationships that nurture your journey, as they will prove invaluable when challenges arise.

The Healing Journey

The first video, "6 ways to heal trauma without medication," features Bessel van der Kolk discussing various approaches to recovery. His insights remind us that healing can be achieved through non-pharmacological methods.

You possess a universe within, a sanctuary where your spirit guides you. Trust this inner wisdom, especially when it alerts you to abuse or trauma in any relationship or environment.

Every day, countless children endure abuse—this is one of the saddest realities we face. It's crucial to seek support, whether from a trusted friend or even a pet, as we are not meant to navigate life in solitude.

My personal healing journey has involved addressing complex spiritual abuse that may extend beyond this life. While the future remains uncertain, I remain open to healing possibilities.

Place your hand on your heart to reconnect with the memories that trouble you. Acknowledge your pain, let it flow out, and express it through writing, art, or conversation. Recognizing the grief caused by trauma is vital; pain can be an incredible teacher.

Now is the time to grieve. Cry, express your feelings in whatever form resonates with you, and release them. If those emotions return, know that each time, you will grow stronger and more capable of letting go.

Remember: acknowledge, grieve, express, and heal. This simple recipe, adapted from the wisdom of Sinead O'Connor, can guide you through the healing process.

Now, take a moment to relax. You’ve done wonderfully! Reflect on your journey, and remember to always pursue a peaceful conscience.

The second video, "Steps To Take When You're SERIOUS About Healing Past Trauma," provides essential steps and encouragement for those ready to embrace their healing journey.
