Finding Purpose: A Journey Through Meaninglessness
Written on
Chapter 1: The Void of Existence
Life can often feel devoid of meaning, especially when confronted with mortality. The death of my grandfather in 2017 starkly illustrated this for me. It was as if I was struck by the realization that life is ultimately futile: we are born, we live, and then we die, leaving the universe to continue without us until its eventual demise.
Prior to this moment, I had never been troubled by such thoughts. However, after confronting this harsh reality, I found myself paralyzed by existential anxiety, unable to focus on even the simplest tasks without feeling overwhelmed.

Section 1.1: The Abyss of Dread
The confrontation with death felt like being trapped in an intricate M.C. Escher artwork, where the path forward seemed to lead nowhere. It was as if I was stuck in a perpetual state of fast-forward, hurtling toward an inevitable end.
Section 1.2: A Shift in Perspective
Amidst my despair, I immersed myself in the discussions on r/philosophy, convinced that my struggle was rooted in existential thought. However, between 2016 and 2019, a shift began to occur within me, and I discovered that my sense of purpose was reawakening.
Surprisingly, this resurgence had little to do with philosophical musings. Instead, it stemmed from practical changes I made in my daily routine—improving my diet, getting adequate rest, and pursuing a more fulfilling career as a content creator. These adjustments enhanced my ability to experience meaning in life.
Chapter 2: Embracing the Present Moment
Life resembles an Escher painting—an endless staircase that appears to lead nowhere. Yet, the more I took the time to appreciate each step along the way, the more meaningful my experiences became. The essence of life’s meaning resides in the present moment; if you rush through it, you risk missing the true significance.
