During my early childhood, I exhibited a vibrant and outgoing personality. Unfortunately, societal norms began to impose themselves on me. Well-intentioned adults frequently advised that good children should be quiet and composed. Over time, I unconsciously began to associate calmness with being a "good kid." Compliments for not being overly boisterous or disruptive instilled a belief in me: remaining quiet meant I was behaving well.

What began as innocent behavior gradually morphed into a significant challenge — social anxiety. By age 15, my fear of engaging with others had grown overwhelming. I would go to great lengths to avoid even simple interactions, like asking a store employee a question, preferring to wander the aisles for an eternity instead. This debilitating anxiety severely hindered my ability to seek employment or pursue education after high school.

As I matured, the ramifications of my shyness became increasingly evident. It affected all facets of my life, leading me to doubt my worth and feel like a failure. I recognized that I needed to confront the fear that had imprisoned me for so long.
