A renegade is an individual who challenges norms and navigates life with ingenuity and originality.
While I never labeled myself as a renegade, there have been countless moments when that’s precisely what I embodied. It's more than just thinking outside the conventional framework; it’s about constructing an entirely new paradigm that only you can inhabit.
As I prepared to re-enter the workforce after spending time with my children, I realized I craved a departure from my previous career. I sought something entirely different.
Numerous times, I pursued positions in new fields without any formal training, education, or background—and I succeeded. I dismantled the conventional job-seeking approach and forged my own path.
Instead of endlessly searching job boards for openings, I contemplated my aspirations and pinpointed ideal employers. I discovered that even if a company didn’t have a vacancy for my desired role, they might still be willing to hire me based on my enthusiasm, commitment, and zeal for the work.
Presenting Your Case
Begin by outlining all the reasons you desire a specific position. Articulate why you are the perfect fit, how the role will benefit you, and what unique contributions you can make.
If public speaking or writing isn't your strength, consider enrolling in a class or joining Toastmasters. Equip yourself with the skills necessary to reach your goals.
The Vision Makers
Identify the individuals in your network who can assist you. If you lack connections in the field you’re targeting, perhaps someone you know has the right contacts. Utilize your resources. Network effectively and make your aspirations known.
The Gatekeepers
Investigate the key individuals within your target company. As a self-employed person, I often research influential figures who can help me connect with my desired audience.
Regardless of your profession or approach, there are always individuals who can facilitate opportunities for you. Social media can be an excellent tool for expanding your reach, but you must be clear about your intended audience.

- Communicate your objectives professionally and succinctly.
