Embracing Feelings Over Materialism: A Transformational Journey
Written on
Chapter 1: The Shift in Perspective
Have you considered redirecting your focus from material possessions to your feelings? Transitioning from the tangible aspects of life to the emotional and energetic dimensions can be transformative. Emotions represent energy, and as humans, we are inherently motivated by these feelings. Are you prepared to embrace this change?
When you allow your emotions to guide you, life begins to flow more smoothly. By letting go of rigid self-definitions and labels, you create room for your authentic self to emerge. Tapping into your inner self and true desires is accessible to everyone—it requires only the willingness to embrace change and open your heart to new experiences.
While I can't provide a universal formula, I can share my personal journey, which may inspire you to find your own "Great 5 Feelings."
Story Time: My Journey of Self-Discovery
For the past few years, I've been documenting my spiritual exploration. I've engaged with various books, taken notes, completed exercises, and compiled relevant information. This has resulted in a collection of notebooks that chronicle my experiences. One exercise stands out: envisioning your "version 2.0," or future self. Regardless of the author's background or the time the material was created, the insights I gleaned were remarkably consistent.
During my first attempt at this exercise, I was producing music for libraries in the midst of the pandemic. My envisioned "version 2.0" was a successful music producer living in a stunning Hawaiian-style home by the ocean, where I could surf daily. I imagined a life of ease and safety, abundant financial freedom, and the ability to connect with my family at will. That was nearly four years ago.
Evolution of Self: Focusing on Feelings
As my journey progressed, my vision evolved. I began to prioritize the feelings associated with my future self rather than material possessions or locations. I discovered my identity as a creator, engaging in various artistic pursuits that transcended mere labels of music, design, and writing. This realization brought immense satisfaction as I recognized the interconnectedness of my interests.
I shifted my perspective from owning a house to creating a peaceful and fulfilling space with my partner. I understood that my connection to water was not merely about proximity but about the peace it represented in my subconscious. Analyzing my notes led me to identify my "Great 5" feelings: love, joy, peace, generosity, and gratitude.
The Essence of My "Great 5"
It took time to distill my myriad aspirations into these five core feelings. Initially, I questioned the sufficiency of this selection—where was abundance or satisfaction? However, these five feelings resonated most profoundly with my self-perception.
What does this imply? It means I can effortlessly access these emotions. I've pinpointed "trigger" moments that evoke each feeling, whether from my past or future selves. Recognizing that only the present moment exists has empowered me to connect with these feelings at will. For instance, I can choose gratitude in a frustrating traffic jam, focusing on the positives like having a reliable car with air conditioning.
My Loop: A Method for Sustaining Positive Emotions
I want to share my technique for maintaining these feelings, which I call "My Loop." This approach is inspired by Abraham Hicks' "rampage" technique, which has been incredibly effective for me.
When I experience love, feelings of regret and guilt dissipate. This leads to peace and a deep understanding that everything is as it should be. This balance revitalizes my body and mind, allowing joy to flow through me. I become increasingly grateful for all the experiences that have shaped my journey, which fosters generosity in all aspects of my life. I often find myself proclaiming, "Oh, how I love my life!"
The Challenge of Letting Go
The hardest challenge has been releasing the self-images that both I and others held. Society pressures us to conform to certain identities, but I believe that our past does not dictate our present. As Wayne Dyer states, our past is merely the wake behind a boat, not what propels us forward.
Have you grasped the essence of this perspective? By prioritizing feelings, I've learned to step away from rigid self-perceptions and material attachments. Initially, this shift brought discomfort, which I traced back to fear—specifically, a fear of missing out (FOMO). Even letting go of material concerns felt risky, yet I had to trust my energetic foundation.
In a world filled with external expectations, prioritizing my feelings has liberated me.
Chapter 2: The Transformation
I transitioned to what I now recognize as a feelings-driven existence, often without realizing it. From this new viewpoint, life has significantly improved. I feel happier and recognize abundance in my surroundings. My relationships—with my family and others—have deepened, and I've experienced newfound freedom. I flow with life more effortlessly, witnessing positive changes around me.
My resistance has diminished considerably compared to just a year ago, leading to a more effortless and enjoyable life. Surprisingly, I've also noticed an increase in financial abundance. My opportunities have become more rewarding, and I attract quality experiences, such as teaching kitesurfing to enthusiastic students.
Endless Possibilities: Embracing the Future
I've relinquished the need to create a fixed image of my future self. Instead, I embrace the infinite possibilities that lie ahead. I allow myself to be enveloped in love, peace, joy, gratitude, and generosity, welcoming whatever images arise.
I encourage you to discover your own "Great 5." Your journey doesn't need to be flawless from the start; it will evolve alongside your spiritual growth. While it may not replicate my loop, it will undoubtedly help you stay anchored in the present moment.
Give it a try, and please share your experiences with me in the future!
May the wind be at your back!
