My introduction to Python came after I had already developed proficiency in other programming languages, such as C#. While I could delve into the intricacies of Python's semantics, I'll keep it brief: Python is a high-level language that is remarkably readable and has a strong affinity for functional programming.

During my early years in university, I enrolled in a cryptography class focused on encoding and decoding confidential messages. Certain encryption techniques require handling massive numbers, specifically 1024 bits (approximately 308 decimal digits).

If you've worked with languages like C and Java, you're likely aware that most limit you to 64-bit integers. The course was instructed by a mathematician who was indifferent to the programming language used, as long as we wrote our own code. Therefore, I opted to create my solution in C# to handle these large integers.

I implemented a byte array for the numbers and manually coded functions for addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Although my program was somewhat sluggish, it functioned adequately.

A classmate then pointed out that Python could manage these large integers seamlessly, without the need for explicit coding. This notion was initially perplexing and left me feeling envious and frustrated. How could a programming language manage such large numbers effortlessly? I decided to test it, and my immediate response was a mix of envy and anger, realizing that Python could achieve what my C# code did—much faster—with just a single line of code.

Despite my frustration, I recognized the value of this newfound tool. Later that day, I dove into the official tutorial, and within half an hour, I grasped the syntax and explored some intriguing libraries.

From the moment I encountered Python's syntax, I felt at ease; it resembled pseudocode. Even today, I hear critiques about mandatory indentation, but for me, it seemed like magic that made the code elegant and easily comprehensible.

In that brief learning session, I encountered many concepts that felt unusual for a programming language, such as the zip function, leading me to ponder their practical applications. Additionally, the vastness of the standard library was daunting; it includes graphical interfaces, file management, code validation tools, numerous data structures, Internet protocols, and so much more.

Luckily, the documentation is exceptionally well-structured and filled with practical examples. Over a decade has passed since I began exploring it, and I still have yet to uncover all its mysteries. However, whenever I face a new challenge, I often think, "I'm sure this has already been addressed in the standard library," and most of the time, I'm right.

Simply writing a "hello world" program in Python doesn't qualify you as a Python programmer. This language has unique characteristics, particularly with the for loop, which differs from what I learned in C, Java, and other languages, yet is more intuitive and pseudocode-like.

My learning journey involved tutorials and hands-on practice, which I believe is the most effective approach. Ultimately, once you grasp programming concepts and their applications, you can transition between various languages. Some individuals may discover shortcuts to expedite their problem-solving, while others might resort to less elegant solutions due to limited experience. Nonetheless, understanding fundamental programming principles will always lead you to an answer.
